Premium, clean, science-backed men's skincare built around wild-harvested botanicals.

The story behind Caldera + Lab Read the full story

The man who built this line spent his first career in technology, not cosmetics, and his co-founder is former WWE star and dancer Stacy Keibler, his wife. Splitting their time between smoggy Los Angeles and the thin, frigid air of the Teton range, the pair watched their skin react badly to the whiplash, and Keibler's go-to clean products had no real male-oriented counterpart. Rather than slap a men's label on an existing formula, they spent roughly two years working with labs, scientists, and biologists to build something from scratch, harvesting botanicals from the surrounding Wyoming wilderness and steeping them in oil for weeks at a time.

That obsessive single-product approach is the brand's whole personality. The debut serum became a runaway direct-to-consumer hit and the anchor of everything that followed, and the company has deliberately resisted the temptation to flood its catalog, keeping the lineup short and the messaging focused on men who find traditional skincare baffling or unmanly. The plant-forward, wild-harvested sourcing is treated as genuine craft rather than packaging copy, and the team frames the product as a gateway: one bottle that lowers the intimidation factor of starting a routine at all.

The business has since grown into eight-figure territory and drawn outside capital, raising a $6 million Series A from the early-stage arm of HighPost Capital to fund a rebrand and a push into wider retail including Ulta Beauty. It has also earned recognition on industry watch lists as a brand to follow in the men's category. The candid caveat is that a beautifully made botanical oil, however many extracts it carries, is still an oil, and craftsmanship and a strong founder story do more of the heavy lifting here than a deep stack of independent clinical trials. For the right skin, that is a pleasure; at the price, buyers should know what they are paying for.

Caldera + Lab The Base Layer fortifying anti-aging moisturizer in a frosted glass jar, a men's cream with sea silt, squalane and PHA Fortifying Men's Day Cream
Caldera + Lab moisturizer

The Base Layer

The Base Layer is Caldera + Lab's answer to 'what goes on after the serum' — a cushiony, fortifying cream that pairs a mineral sea-silt base with squalane, a gentle PHA and a deep botanical antioxidant deck. It's a genuinely well-built moisturizer for dry and cold-climate skin, dinged mainly by added fragrance and a $65 price that asks a lot for 50ml.

Caldera + Lab The Good multifunctional botanical face serum in a frosted glass pump bottle, a 27-botanical men's antioxidant facial oil Clean Men's Cult Serum
Caldera + Lab serum

The Good

The Good is Caldera + Lab's entire reason for existing: a fast-drying, 27-botanical antioxidant oil that genuinely feels more like a serum than a face oil. It earns its cult status on texture and a brand-funded clinical study, but the $110/30ml price and a slate of essential oils mean it's a luxury maintenance step, not a problem-solver for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Caldera + Lab The Clean Slate balancing cleanser in a frosted pump bottle, a sulfate-free probiotic men's face wash with PHA and squalane Probiotic Sulfate-Free Cleanser
Caldera + Lab cleanser

The Clean Slate

The Clean Slate is the rare men's cleanser that treats your barrier as something to protect rather than scrub off. Sulfate-free glucoside surfactants, a probiotic ferment, a gentle PHA and squalane add up to a genuinely balancing wash that leaves skin soft, not tight. The essential-oil scent and $45 price are the main reasons to pause.

More about Caldera + Lab

Caldera + Lab launched in 2019 as a premium clean-skincare brand for men, born from a couple's search for nourishing products to counter harsh Jackson Hole winters.

Its botanical-oil formulas are well-made and ethically sourced, but as a young indie built on plant extracts rather than high-evidence actives, its anti-aging claims rest more on craftsmanship than on independent clinical proof.
