German dermatological pharmacy brand specializing in gentle, soap-free cleansing and care for sensitive and problem skin.

The story behind Eubos Read the full story

The unlikely origin point is a cellar on Meckenheimer Allee in Bonn, where a small pharmaceutical operation restarted after the war, its founder a dentist by training who had begun by making asthma remedies rather than skin care. That clinical, problem-solving DNA, closer to a compounding pharmacy than a cosmetics house, set the tone for everything the brand would later make.

The pivot to skin came in 1958 with a single product: Eubos Fest, a solid "non-soap bar." The distinction mattered enormously. Where ordinary soap is alkaline and can strip and irritate, this was an early synthetic-detergent cleanser engineered to wash without disrupting the skin's acidic surface, a genuinely forward idea for its day. Sales were modest at first, but the principle, mild and skin-friendly cleansing for people whose skin reacts to everything, became the brand's permanent north star.

Product development stayed deliberate rather than trend-chasing. A leadership handover in 1971 shifted the company toward broadening the range, and the decades that followed brought a structured Sensitive line in 1997, hyaluronic-acid Anti Age formulas in 2003, and a urea-based intensive-care range in 2004, plus specialized care aimed at diabetic and neurodermatitis-prone skin. The catalog reads like a pharmacy shelf organized by skin problem, not by marketing season, and the Liquid Washing Emulsion descends directly from that founding non-soap philosophy.

Recognition came quietly too, including a German "Skin Care Range of the Year" nod in 2002, and exports eventually reached more than 25 countries under the modest house promise of simply delivering "a good skin feeling." The appeal has never been flash. It is the steadiness of a German pharmacy staple that has spent the better part of a century optimizing for one thing: not making reactive skin angrier.

Sensitive Care Dermo-Protective Lotion

A quietly capable German pharmacy body lotion that does the unglamorous work well: a natural-moisturizing-factor base under macadamia, avocado and shea lipids relieves dry, tight, sensitive skin without grease. The only real caveat is a low level of added fragrance, which keeps it out of the truly fragrance-free club.

Sensitive Care Hand Repair & Care

Eubos's everyday hand cream pairs a genuine natural-moisturizing-factor complex with a touch of lactic acid, so it hydrates and smooths rough hands in one fast-absorbing, non-greasy pass. It is a smart, affordable daily pick for dry hands — just note the fragrance allergens and low-level alcohol that keep it off the list for very reactive skin.

Eubos Sensitive Care Ultra Repair & Protect hand cream tube, fragrance-free German pharmacy cream with ectoin, shea butter and microsilver for cracked dry hands Cracked-Hand Repair Specialist
Eubos body care

Sensitive Care Ultra Repair & Protect Cream

An unusually science-forward intensive hand cream: ectoin and elemental microsilver join shea, amaranth oil and a panthenol-allantoin-bisabolol soothing trio to repair severely chapped, frequently-washed hands — all fragrance- and silicone-free. Rich but not greasy after rub-in, it earns its medical-grade positioning. The main limits are a small tube and patchy availability outside Europe.

Eubos Liquid Washing Emulsion bottle, a German pH 5.5 soap-free fragrance-free washing emulsion for sensitive skin Gentle Derm-Pharmacy Wash
Eubos cleanser

Liquid Washing Emulsion

Eubos Liquid Washing Emulsion is the antithesis of hype: a decades-old German pharmacy wash, pH 5.5, soap-free, fragrance-free in its Blue version, built around a mild amphoteric surfactant with allantoin and humectants. It cleanses face and body gently without stripping, costs very little, and earns its dermatological reputation. It contains SLES and a bit of dye, but it's gentler than that list suggests and an easy budget recommendation.

Cool & Calm Redness Relieving Intensive Cream

A treatment-minded anti-redness cream that tackles the cause rather than the color: ectoin stabilizes the barrier while a naringenin-chalcone flavonoid, magnolia bark and helichrysum calm the flushing behind chronic facial redness — all fragrance- and silicone-free. Results build slowly and the tube is small, but for rosacea-prone skin it is a thoughtfully gentle pick.
