The story behind Evolve Organic Beauty Read the full story
Before there was a studio in Hertfordshire, there was a rock star's skincare line. Laura Rudoe cut her teeth in beauty as the founding employee of NUDE, an ethical brand she helped build for backers that included the musician Bono and his wife, an outfit later acquired by the luxury conglomerate LVMH. That experience, learning how to put conscience into a cosmetics business at scale, became the template for the company she would launch on her own terms.
When she started her own brand in 2009, the early years were quiet by design and the line stayed small. The turning point came mid-decade. In 2014 she opened a studio in London Colney and pulled every part of production in-house, then in 2015 relaunched the whole range as an apothecary-style line, with hand-printed labels and deliberately small batches. The reinvention worked, and sales climbed sharply on the strength of that craft-led, transparent identity.
What distinguishes the formulation approach is a kind of natural-first pragmatism rather than ingredient fearmongering. Signature products such as a bio-retinol mask and a high-strength hyaluronic serum aim to deliver visible results using plant-derived alternatives to conventional actives, an attempt to bridge the gap between gentle botanical formulas and the efficacy shoppers expect. Everything is made vegan and cruelty-free, with sustainability folded into both the sourcing and the packaging decisions rather than bolted on afterward.
The brand has since grown into dozens of export markets while staying founder-led, an unusual outcome for an independent that never took the well-trodden path of selling out or scaling on outside capital. Its credibility rests on craft and consistency: small-batch manufacturing it controls directly, ingredient transparency it can actually trace, and a founder whose entire career has been spent proving an ethical beauty business can also be a durable one.

More about Evolve Organic Beauty
Evolve Organic Beauty was founded in 2009 by Laura Rudoe, a Harvard Business School graduate, and is an independent UK natural-skincare brand making vegan, cruelty-free products at its own studio in Hertfordshire.
It is known for small-batch, naturally derived formulations and ethical positioning rather than for clinical pharmaceutical backing. Its credibility rests on founder-led ethics, ingredient transparency, and an established track record in the natural beauty space rather than on independent peer-reviewed trials of individual products.
