The story behind Genabelle Read the full story

Dr. Park Kibum — known online as Dr. Conan Park — built his brand around a problem he saw every day at the chair: patients leaving his Seoul clinic after lasers and microneedling needed something to speed their recovery, and the after-care products on hand were either prescription-bound or underwhelming. He had already watched dermatologists pair PDRN, a DNA-derived compound extracted from salmon, with in-office procedures. His leap was to formulate it for daily home use, translating a clinic-only ingredient into a cream people could keep on the bathroom shelf. He was famously exacting about it — by the brand's own telling, he ran more than ten formula evaluations and once scrapped a fully manufactured 5,000-unit batch, logging thousands of research hours to land the right PDRN concentration in the hero Rejuvenating Cream.

The timing turned out to be lucky. The brand caught fire during the 2020 lockdowns, when housebound shoppers leaned hard into recovery-focused skincare, and warehouse stock reportedly sold through in about four weeks. Momentum from that moment let Park open his own G.U. Clinic in Gangnam in 2021, closing the loop between the consumer line and the clinical practice that inspired it. From there the brand pushed outward — onto Amazon in the U.S., into Japan, and onto Chinese social commerce — with influencer endorsements accelerating the spread around 2023. The PDRN cream alone has now moved hundreds of thousands of units in Korea.

The name itself is a small thesis: gena, Latin for cheek or face, fused with the French belle. What makes the brand interesting isn't a marketing gimmick but the genuine clinic-to-counter pathway behind it — actives chosen because they earned their place in procedure after-care, then re-engineered for everyday skin. The fair caveat is that PDRN's consumer-skincare evidence, however buzzy, still trails the confidence of the marketing around it.

PDRN Vita Toning Ampoule

Genabelle's premium-tier brightening ampoule, with 5000 ppm salmon PDRN (five times the regular line's concentration) plus treatment-dose niacinamide, a four-vitamin complex, tranexamic acid and the brand's peptide pair. The multi-pathway brightening approach is genuinely well-coordinated; salmon source rules out vegan use; added fragrance is the standard avoidable misstep. Within the brightening-PDRN category, this earns its position.

The dermatologist-founder pedigree shows in the formulation polish. Added fragrance is the avoidable misstep; the salmon-DNA source rules out vegan use; the small 70 mL size at $38 is firmly premium pricing.
