France's leading men's grooming brand—simple, inclusive, mostly-natural skincare, haircare, and fragrance made in France.

The story behind Horace Read the full story

The spark struck on the Amalfi Coast. Marc Briant-Terlet was on holiday in the cliffside town of Praiano, rummaging for decent grooming products, when it crystallized that nothing on the market actually fit a guy like him: the well-designed options were expensive and precious, the affordable ones came in cheap packaging with worse formulas. He brought the frustration home to a friend he had met studying business at HEC's Montreal program, and the two decided to build the thing that did not exist.

Briant-Terlet's background was not pharmacy or chemistry but culture. Raised in a Paris suburb, he studied marketing and consumption anthropology and had worked in marketing for Vans and as a fashion journalist, which is why the brand reads less like a clinic and more like a magazine: portraits, routines, and editorial advice surround the products. From the start the partners rejected the chest-thumping codes of the men's-grooming aisle, building something legible and unintimidating for men who had never bought skincare before.

The range stayed deliberately tight: a few well-edited essentials covering cleansing, scrubbing, moisturizing, and under-eye care rather than an overwhelming wall of choice. Formulas were positioned as largely plant-derived and free of the usual flashpoint ingredients, paired with accessible prices and messaging that treated grooming as ordinary rather than a masculinity test.

That editorial, community-first approach translated into real-world footing. The brand grew into one of France's leading men's labels, opened physical boutiques at home, and eventually pushed across the Channel with a London outpost. The honest read is that its credibility is cultural and commercial rather than clinical, with no dermatologist development or published trials behind it. For a man wanting a simple, French-made first routine without jargon or intimidation, that is precisely the point.

Horace Anti-Dark Circle Serum roll-on tube, French men's fragrance-free under-eye serum with caffeine, vitamin C ester, hyaluronic acid, and argan oil De-Puffing Eye Pick
Horace eye cream

Anti-Dark Circle Serum

A gentle, fragrance-free under-eye serum that gets the fundamentals right — caffeine to de-puff, a vitamin C ester to brighten, hyaluronic acid to hydrate — wrapped around a genuinely satisfying cooling roll-on. Dark-circle results are realistically modest, and the 10ml size is small, but as an approachable men's eye pick it delivers an immediate refresh and gradual improvement.

Horace Purifying Face Cleanser bottle, French men's fragrance-free gel cleanser with glucoside surfactants, zinc PCA, binchotan charcoal, and aloe Sensitive Skin MVP
Horace cleanser

Purifying Face Cleanser

A genuinely gentle, fragrance-free men's cleanser that quietly gets everything right — sulfate-free glucosides clean without stripping, zinc PCA reins in oil, and aloe keeps it soothing, all for under twenty dollars. The charcoal is more cameo than star, but as a no-fuss daily cleanser for oily-to-sensitive skin, it's an easy recommendation.

Horace Mattifying Face Moisturiser SPF30 tube, French men's vegan mineral sunscreen moisturizer with zinc oxide, silica, salicylic acid, and karanja oil 3-in-1 Mineral SPF
Horace spf moisturizer

Mattifying Face Moisturiser SPF

A genuinely clever three-in-one: mineral SPF30, a shine-controlling moisturiser, and a touch of pore-clearing salicylic acid, all vegan and fragrance-free. It wears matte with minimal cast on lighter-to-medium skin and is exactly the kind of sunscreen oily-skinned men will actually use daily. SPF30 rather than 50 and a possible faint cast on deep tones are the main limits.

Horace Gentle Face Scrub tube, French men's fragrance-free physical exfoliator with argan shell powder, murumuru grains and butter, and vitamin E Gentle Physical Scrub
Horace exfoliant

Gentle Face Scrub

One of the gentler physical scrubs in men's grooming — fine argan-shell and murumuru grains cushioned in a nourishing butter-and-oil base smooth rough, congested skin without the raw, stripped aftermath. Fragrance-free, vegan, and well-priced, it's a good pick for resilient skin; just remember it's still a manual scrub, so sensitive and acne-prone skin should sit it out.

Horace moisturizer

Mattifying Face Moisturiser

A smart mattifying moisturiser that actually moisturizes — silica controls shine while shea butter and seed oils keep skin nourished, all fragrance-free at a fair price. The matte finish favors oily over dry skin, it skips SPF (there's a separate variant for that), and beeswax means it's not vegan, but for oily-skinned men it's a genuinely good daily pick.
