The story behind Kypris Read the full story

The name is a clue to the whole ethos. Kypris was an ancient epithet for Aphrodite, 'the Lady of Cyprus,' the island where the goddess was said to have risen from the sea, and Chase Polan chose it deliberately for a brand that treats beauty as something closer to ritual than vanity. Her path to founding it was anything but linear: she modeled as a teenager, went on to study organic chemistry, and started an education consultancy at 21 that she ran for more than a decade before turning that mix of science and aesthetics toward skincare.

When the line debuted, Polan led with a tight, considered set of serums and 'beauty elixirs' rather than a sprawling catalog. The Antioxidant Dew came out of a specific frustration, that the market hadn't cracked how to deliver a meaningful concentration of antioxidants alongside real hydration without irritating skin, and it was her answer to that gap. The 1000 Roses elixir leaned the other direction, into aromatherapy and sensory pleasure as part of the point, not a distraction from it. That refusal to separate efficacy from experience runs through everything she's built.

Polan frames clean beauty in unusually spiritual terms, as an experience of care, acceptance, and pleasure rather than a list of excluded ingredients, a philosophy shaped in part by her own brush with cancer and her insistence that one can feel good even mid-healing. Commercially, the brand grew through the channels that suited that message: it became a fixture at clean-beauty retailer Credo and a staple in the routines of green-beauty devotees, with products like the Clearing Serum and Moonlight Catalyst extending the original cast. As an independent, founder-led house, its credibility leans on Polan's chemistry training, careful sourcing, and a loyal following rather than large-scale clinical trials, which makes the steady, almost devotional consistency of the line its strongest argument.

Kypris Antioxidant Dew glass pump bottle, a gentle fragrance-free hydration and antioxidant serum with encapsulated vitamins C and E, ferulic acid, and botanicals Gentle Antioxidant Hydration Serum
Kypris serum

Antioxidant Dew

An elegantly formulated, fragrance-free hydration-and-antioxidant serum that deliberately trades strength for gentleness — encapsulated vitamins C and E, ferulic acid, and superoxide dismutase over a lush humectant base and soothing botanicals. Its standout quality is tolerability: even sensitive skin can wear it daily for a quenched, dewy glow. Just go in knowing it's more gentle hydrator than potent corrective, and priced as a luxury.

Kypris Beauty Elixir I 1000 Roses cobalt glass dropper bottle, a luxury antioxidant rose face oil with biodynamic Bulgarian rose, CoQ10, and vitamin C esters Luxury Antioxidant Rose Oil
Kypris oil

Beauty Elixir I 1000 Roses

A genuinely luxurious, beautifully layered rose face oil — nineteen botanical actives anchored by precious biodynamic Bulgarian rose, with a real antioxidant backbone of CoQ10 and vitamin C esters. It deeply nourishes dry skin, gives a rosy glow, and is a sensory pleasure to use. The trade-offs are honest: it's rich, contains coconut oil and rose-derived allergens, and is priced as a luxury, so it suits drier, non-reactive skin best.

Kypris Clearing Serum cobalt glass pump bottle, a gentle botanical blemish serum with zinc, natural salicylates, centella, and barrier-supporting ceramides Gentle Barrier-Safe Blemish Serum
Kypris serum

Clearing Serum

A thoughtfully gentle blemish serum that clears and balances without stripping — zinc and natural salicylates paired with soothing centella and, smartly, barrier-supporting ceramides and squalane. It's a genuinely barrier-friendly alternative to harsh acne products, ideal for mild breakouts on oily-but-not-too-reactive skin. The catch is the tea tree and lavender essential oils, which undercut the 'soothing' claim for the most sensitive skin.

Kypris Moonlight Catalyst glass pump bottle, a gentle fragrance-free overnight resurfacing serum with pumpkin ferment enzymes and a renewal peptide Gentle Overnight Resurfacing Serum
Kypris treatment

Moonlight Catalyst

A genuinely gentle overnight resurfacing serum that smooths and brightens through fermented pumpkin enzymes and a renewal peptide rather than harsh acids — no sting, no sun-sensitivity spike beyond the usual, just smoother skin by morning. Its tolerability makes it an ideal first exfoliant or a sensitive-skin staple. The trade-offs are mild, gradual results and a luxury price.

More about Kypris

Founded in 2011 by Chase Polan, KYPRIS is a luxury, botanically-driven skincare brand built around plant-derived actives and a stated commitment to ethical, cruelty-free sourcing.

Polan, who studied organic chemistry and previously ran an education consultancy, launched the line into doctors' offices before moving into spas and clean-beauty retail. The brand's claims rest on its formulation approach and founder background rather than extensive independent peer-reviewed validation.
