Most skincare brands bury their philosophy in mission statements; this one put it on the label. Quality 1st, a Japanese brand established in 2012, named itself after its single organizing principle and then did something unusual: it spent as little as possible on everything that wasn't the product. Minimal packaging, minimal advertising, minimal markup, with the savings redirected into the sheet itself.
The result is a range of facial sheet masks that became a Don Quijote and drugstore staple in Japan and a popular souvenir for visitors. The masks use 100% Japanese cotton, skip many preservatives, and come in large multi-packs designed for daily use rather than occasional treats. The All In One line wraps toner, essence, and emulsion steps into a single sheet meant to be worn for ten to fifteen minutes.
Over time the brand expanded into more targeted formulas, including high-concentration vitamin C, tea tree for blemish-prone skin, and trend-driven actives such as NMN and exosome technology, while keeping the same no-frills positioning. The pitch throughout has been efficacy per yen: lots of sheets, decent actives, low price. The Derma Laser sub-line, sold heavily through Don Quijote, became a particular tourist magnet, the sort of product travelers buy by the armful to take home.
That retail ubiquity is part of the brand's identity. Rather than chase department-store prestige, Quality 1st planted itself squarely in the drugstore and discount-store aisle, betting that consistency and price would do the work that glossy campaigns do for pricier rivals.
The honest read: Quality 1st is a value play done well. The masks are pleasant, generously sized, and a sensible way to add a hydrating step without spending much, and the preservative-conscious, cotton-sheet approach is a real point of difference in a crowded category. What you don't get is deep clinical validation; the newer NMN and exosome masks ride ingredient trends whose topical benefits in a brief sheet-mask format are far from settled. Treat them as enjoyable, affordable hydration rather than serious treatment, and the brand delivers exactly what its name promises within that lane.
