The story behind Rilastil Read the full story

There is a quiet irony tucked inside Rilastil's family tree: the chemist whose name sits over the whole enterprise, Professor Domenico Ganassini, was a researcher at the University of Pavia who contributed to the early scientific work on Vitamin PP — the compound the skincare world now calls niacinamide, today one of the most ubiquitous actives on any ingredient label. Decades before the brand existed, in other words, the family was already orbiting the molecules modern skincare obsesses over.

The brand itself was the idea of his grandson, Dr. Domenico Ganassini di Camerati, who would later chair the wider group. His insight was deceptively simple: take the testing rigor, documentation, and manufacturing discipline the family firm used to make medicines, and point all of it at the cosmetic problem of skin elasticity — a property that, at the time, almost nobody was studying seriously. That focus is encoded right in the name, drawn from the Italian "ri-elasticizzare," to re-elasticize.

The very first product was not an anti-wrinkle cream but a stretch-mark treatment, Rilastil Smagliature, aimed at the moment skin is stretched fastest — pregnancy. The stretch-mark cream and an elasticizing cream were also among the first products the company pushed abroad, and they remain emblematic of a brand that has always treated elasticity, not radiance, as the headline benefit.

Because the company grew up as a pharmaceutical maker, it never built its reputation through advertising spectacle. It earned shelf space through pharmacists and medical representatives, the slow-trust channel of European parapharmacy, and that DNA still shows in its formulating habits: hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic testing as a default, plus an unusually fastidious heavy-metal screening program that checks for sensitizing contaminants down to trace levels. The result is a brand that reads less like a beauty label and more like a dermatology supply line — restrained, methodical, and built for skin that reacts to almost everything else.

Rilastil sunscreen

Sun System Water Touch Fluid SPF 50+

A fragrance-free, photostable broad-spectrum SPF 50+ fluid that stabilises its avobenzone with Tinosorb S and adds soothing, antioxidant and hydrating extras, all in a lightweight non-shiny finish suited to sensitive skin. Octinoxate content and a premium price are the main caveats, but it's a comfortable, well-formulated daily sunscreen from a legacy Italian house.

Multirepair H.A. Serum

A clever hydrate-and-resurface serum: three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid for layered hydration, a meaningful 4% mandelic acid for gentle brightening, and a genuine olive-derived hydroxytyrosol antioxidant behind the 'detox' label. Well-made and multi-tasking, but a long fragrance-allergen list and premium price keep it off the table for sensitive or fragrance-averse skin.

Rilastil cleanser

Daily Care Micellar Solution

A quietly competent, fragrance- and alcohol-free micellar water that does exactly one thing well: removing makeup and grime without setting off reactive, redness-prone skin. The nine-ingredient formula won't excite anyone chasing actives, and pharmacy-import pricing makes it dearer than drugstore rivals, but for sensitive skin it's a dependable, low-drama daily cleanse.

Rilastil moisturizer

Multirepair Nutri-Repairing Anti-Wrinkle Cream

A richly nourishing anti-wrinkle cream from a 50-year-old Italian dermocosmetic house, pairing a shea-and-plant-oil base with ectoin, dual-weight hyaluronic acid and a pre/probiotic duo. It genuinely does more than soften dry, mature skin, though the premium price and rich texture (wrong for oily skin) are real considerations.

Multirepair S-Ferulic Serum

A thoughtfully built daytime antioxidant serum that swaps vitamin C for a ferulic-acid-plus-superoxide-dismutase system, with supporting peptides and a touch of mandelic acid. It's a stable, low-sting route to free-radical defence from a legacy Italian house — premium-priced and fragranced, and not for anyone set on classic vitamin C brightening.
