Tricia Trimble was sixteen when her mother died of melanoma. Decades later, after a career as a CPA and recruiter and a detour through a master's degree in spiritual psychology, that loss became a sunscreen company built in her mother's memory. Suntegrity launched in 2010, when the phrase "clean beauty" barely existed and mineral SPF was the niche concern of a few committed shoppers rather than a TikTok talking point.
Trimble bootstrapped the brand with proceeds from selling her home and insisted on owning it outright, unwilling to let outside investors dilute the ingredient standards she'd set. She built everything around non-nano zinc oxide, a mineral filter that physically reflects UV rather than absorbing it, and layered in antioxidants and amino acids meant to help skin defend and repair itself. Sunscreen in the United States is regulated as an over-the-counter drug, which makes reformulating slow and expensive; she did it anyway, and early on landed a coveted top rating on the Environmental Working Group's sunscreen guide.
The brand's calling card became its multitasking tinted moisturizers and 5-in-1 tinted face sunscreen, products that fold SPF, light coverage, and skincare into a single step. An Allure Best of Beauty award brought wider visibility, and Suntegrity became a fixture on clean-beauty retailer shelves and a reliable recommendation for people who find chemical sunscreens irritating or simply prefer minerals.
What Suntegrity does well is uncontroversial: non-nano zinc is a genuinely effective, well-tolerated broad-spectrum filter, and the tinted formulas solve the classic mineral-sunscreen problem of a chalky cast for a decent range of tones. The trade-offs are the familiar mineral ones, a heavier finish than featherweight chemical sunscreens and a price above drugstore SPF. It is a small, founder-owned, mission-driven operation rather than a clinical-research house, so the appeal rests on formula quality and values rather than published trials. For mineral-sunscreen devotees and sensitive skin, it remains one of the more trusted names in the category.
