ROUND LAB Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask single white pouch
Good choice for Sensitivity
What makes this different

A soothing sheet mask whose essence is built on pine leaf water and whole centella with a three-weight hyaluronate set, purslane and a fermented polysaccharide, on a thin double-wave cellulose fabric with air holes for a cooling effect, and nothing else: no fragrance, no alcohol, no oils, no silicones. It is the plainest mask in a category that usually cannot resist adding things, and that plainness is the point.

ROUND LAB Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask Review

Cooling Pine Cica Sheet Masks sheet-mask k beauty Paraben free Fungal-acne safe Cruelty free Vegan

A plain, well-made soothing sheet: pine leaf water, a whole-centella dose, three hyaluronates, purslane and a fermented polysaccharide on a thin biodegradable fabric, with no fragrance, alcohol, oil or silicone anywhere near it. Chilled and laid on a red, over-treated or sun-tired face it cools and calms for twenty minutes and leaves skin plumper into the next day; the LHA on the label does nothing at its dose, and the sheet tears if unfolded in a hurry. At $4 or less it is one of the easiest sensitive-skin masks to recommend.

How well it fits each concern

Four years on sale with a few dozen reviews on the brand's US site and an unverified count on Amazon and YesStyle, and no published test of the essence; the assessment relies on the well-understood behaviour of occluded humectant sheets, on centella's evidence and on the mask's minimal, well-tolerated list. Owner feedback so far confirms the calming and the thin sheet's tendency to tear.

Review

The full review

Sheet masks are the product category least able to leave well enough alone: a format that exists to hold water against the skin for twenty minutes routinely arrives scented, tinted, spiked with alcohol for a cooling tingle, and loaded with a dozen extracts that have no time to act. The Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask's ingredient list is thirty-one lines long and contains none of that. Water, pine leaf extract, glycerin, two glycols, centella, three hyaluronates, purslane, carrageenan, a fermented polysaccharide, a glycoprotein, thickeners, the four purified centella compounds at trace, a whisper of LHA, and a preservative system of hexanediol and hydroxyacetophenone. No fragrance, no essential oils, no alcohol, no oils, no silicones, no dyes. For a mask sold to sensitive skin that restraint is the main event, and it is the reason this sheet can be chilled and laid on a face that is red from sun, wind, a peel or a bad reaction without adding anything to the problem.

What the sheet does is what an occluded humectant essence does, and it does it well. Pine leaf extract sits second and forms much of the water phase, a faintly green botanical water with laboratory antioxidant data and a clean cooling note; centella extract sits sixth, a whole-plant dose well above the four purified triterpenes near the end of the list and the ingredient with clinical evidence for calming redness and improving barrier hydration; a three-weight hyaluronate set with glycerin and glycereth-26 holds water under the sheet; purslane and biosaccharide gum-1 add soothing and slip. The fabric is a thin double-wave cellulose with tiny air holes that the brand says accelerate cooling and that certainly help the sheet cling, and it carries an OEKO-TEX certification and a biodegradability claim. Twenty minutes on a cleansed, toned face, ideally from the fridge, and the skin comes out cooler, calmer and faintly dewy, with a film of essence that pats in without stickiness and a plumpness that lasts into the next morning; on a face that was not irritated the change is modest, and on one that was it is the reason people buy sheet masks. The few dozen reviews on the brand's US site and the larger unverified crowd at Amazon and YesStyle say the same, and add the two complaints the format earns: the thin sheet tears if it is unfolded carelessly, and the watery essence drips.

The label overreaches in one place. The line's vocabulary, five cica ingredients, a Pine Cica Activer complex and an LHA that removes dead cells and pore waste, has been carried onto the mask from the lotion and cream, and on a twenty-minute sheet the last claim does not survive contact with the list: capryloyl salicylic acid at twenty-fifth is a trace, and twenty minutes of a trace does not exfoliate. The brand's own lotion label, which prints concentrations, shows the four purified centella compounds at four ten-thousandths of a percent, and there is no reason to think the mask's are higher; the whole centella extract at sixth is the cica that works, and it is enough. None of this makes the mask worse; it means the mask should be bought as a soothing and hydrating sheet and not as a treatment, which is what a sheet mask is anyway.

The practical rules are the ordinary ones. Twenty minutes and off, before the sheet dries and starts pulling water back out; the pouch's leftover essence on the neck and the backs of the hands; a moisturiser over the residue to seal it; no retinoid or acid in the same session on reactive skin. Chilled it is a real post-sun or post-procedure compress once the skin has closed. Skin in an active eczema flare should test a corner, because anything occluded for twenty minutes is more than it is on its own.

The price is fair to good. Four dollars a sheet, or $3.60 in the ten-pack, puts it in the middle of Korean sheet masks and below most Western ones, and twice a week from the box costs about $7 a week for something that does what a sheet mask should and nothing it should not. The single is the way to find out whether the thin fabric and your patience get along; the box is the way to keep a few in the fridge.

So: if you have sensitive, reactive, oily, combination or normal skin and want a cooling, calming, genuinely fragrance-free sheet for the evenings when your face has had too much sun, wind or acid, this is one of the better ones at the price and its plainness is its virtue. If you want your texture changed, the LHA is not going to do it and the label should not have said so; and if you unfold sheet masks in a hurry, buy a thicker one.

The science

A sheet mask acts by occlusion and humectancy, and this one's list supports both plainly. Twenty minutes under a saturated cellulose sheet blocks evaporation and drives water and small humectants into the upper stratum corneum, producing a measurable, short-lived rise in hydration and the plumped, dewy appearance that fades over a day; the double-wave fabric with air holes claimed to enhance cooling does so by evaporative loss through the holes, which is also why a drying sheet should be removed. The humectant tier is glycerin, dipropylene glycol, glycereth-26, propanediol, a native hyaluronic acid, a hydrolysed low-weight fraction and sodium hyaluronate, biosaccharide gum-1, a fermented polysaccharide with water-binding and soothing data, and glycoprotein at trace; carrageenan and hydroxyethylcellulose thicken. Pinus densiflora leaf extract contributes polyphenols and terpenes with in-vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory data and functions as the water phase; Centella asiatica extract at sixth is a whole-plant extract whose triterpenes have clinical data on reduced erythema, improved barrier hydration and faster recovery of irritated skin at concentrations around one percent, which its position is consistent with; Portulaca oleracea extract has laboratory anti-inflammatory and antioxidant data and a long record in Korean soothing formulas. The four purified triterpenes, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, madecassoside and madecassic acid, are listed near the end and, by analogy with the concentrations the brand declares on its lotion, are present at trace levels far below their evidence base; they do not add to the whole extract's effect. Capryloyl salicylic acid, LHA, is a lipophilic salicylate ester that exfoliates at 0.3 to 1 percent in leave-on use over weeks; at twenty-fifth position in a twenty-minute rinse-free mask its contribution is nil, and the dead-cell claim is unsupported.

Tolerability is the formula's strongest feature: no fragrance, essential oils, alcohol, oils, silicones or dyes, a mild preservation system of 1,2-hexanediol and hydroxyacetophenone, and nothing relevant to Malassezia. Occlusion intensifies any ingredient, so skin in an active eczema flare should be tested, and a sheet left to dry reverses the hydration. Nothing on the label conflicts with pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The clinical view

Dermatologists regard sheet masks as a pleasant, short-acting hydration and cooling step rather than a treatment, and this one would be assessed favourably within that frame because of what it omits: no fragrance, essential oils, alcohol, oils or silicones, which makes it usable on sensitive, rosacea-prone and post-procedure skin where most masks are not. The centella extract at a meaningful position would be acknowledged as a reasonable calming ingredient with clinical support, and a chilled application would be considered a sensible compress after sun exposure or once the skin has closed following a superficial peel or microneedling, with the clinician's timing advice. Clinicians would give no weight to the LHA exfoliation claim or the five-cica framing, would note that occlusion intensifies any ingredient and that atopic skin in flare should test first, and would advise removal before the sheet dries. As a twice-weekly soothing step for reactive skin it is an easy recommendation; as a hydration strategy it is an expensive substitute for a nightly moisturiser.

Key ingredients

  1. Pinus Densiflora Leaf Extract

Second on the list, the Korean red pine leaf water that fills the sheet's essence in place of much of the water, with laboratory antioxidant and anti-inflammatory data and a faint cooling green note; it is the line's regional signature and the bulk of the 27 mL, not an active.

    Not yet assessed
  2. Centella Asiatica Extract

Sixth, the whole centella extract that does the calming under twenty minutes of occlusion, with clinical data on redness and barrier hydration; it sits well above the four purified triterpenes near the end of the list, and it is the cica that matters.

    Limited for Post-Procedure
  3. Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate

Seventh through ninth, a three-weight hyaluronate set with glycerin and glycereth-26 that the sheet holds against the skin; under a mask's occlusion this humectant group drives the plumped, cooled, dewy look on removal, which lasts into the next morning.

Established mechanism for Dehydration · established mechanism
  4. Portulaca Oleracea Extract and Biosaccharide Gum-1

Eleventh and fifteenth, purslane, a Korean soothing staple with laboratory anti-inflammatory data, and a fermented polysaccharide that binds water and softens; together with carrageenan they give the essence its slight slip and its calming reputation.

    Not yet assessed
  5. Capryloyl Salicylic Acid

Twenty-fifth, the LHA the label credits with removing dead cells and pore waste, at a trace in a twenty-minute mask; it is too low and too brief to exfoliate, and the claim is the line's vocabulary carried onto a product where it does not apply.

Layering

On cleansed, toned skin for twenty minutes, then pat the essence in and moisturise; chilled, it is a genuine post-sun or post-procedure compress, and the pouch's leftover essence goes on the neck and hands.

When to expect results

Immediate: cooled, calmer, plumper skin on removal that lasts into the next day, which is what an occluded humectant essence does. Used twice a week it keeps reactive skin topped up between flares; there is no cumulative effect, and the LHA is far too low to change texture.

How to use it, and who it's for

How to use

After cleansing and toner, ideally with the pouch chilled in the fridge for half an hour, open the packet over a sink, lift the sheet with its mesh backing, peel the backing away slowly and lay the sheet from the forehead down, matching the eye, nose and mouth openings and pressing the edges flat; unfolding it quickly is how the thin fabric tears. Leave it on for twenty minutes and remove it before it begins to dry, then pat the remaining essence into the face and neck, spread the pouch's leftover on the hands, and follow with moisturiser and, in the morning, sunscreen. Use it up to twice a week, or once as a post-sun or pre-makeup calming step, and skip retinoids and acids in the same session on reactive skin. Skin in an eczema flare should test a corner first. Store unopened pouches cool and use within two years.

Is it worth the price?

At $4 a sheet, or $3.60 each in the ten-pack at $36, the Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask is priced in the middle of the Korean sheet-mask range and below most Western masks, and twice-weekly use from the box costs about $7 a week, which buys a day of plumping and a calmer face per session and no cumulative benefit. Comparable fragrance-free Korean soothing masks sell for two to five dollars, so the price is fair rather than cheap, and the biodegradable OEKO-TEX sheet and the honest, minimal list justify the middle of that range; the LHA and five-cica claims cannot be priced because they do not deliver. For sensitive skin that wants an occasional cooling compress it is good value, especially chilled after sun or a procedure; as routine hydration a serum and moisturiser do the job nightly for far less. Buy a single first, since the thin sheet is not for everyone.

Who should buy it

People with sensitive, reactive, oily, combination or normal skin who want a cooling, calming, genuinely fragrance-free sheet mask for the evenings after sun, wind, a peel or a bad reaction, who like the Pine Cica line, and who will unfold a thin sheet with a little patience.

Who should skip it

Anyone expecting exfoliation or a change in texture, which the trace LHA cannot provide; skin in an active eczema flare without a patch test, since occlusion intensifies everything; people who want a thick, forgiving sheet; and anyone using masks as their main hydration step, for whom a nightly moisturiser is cheaper and better.

What the first two weeks feel like

The first sheet is thinner and wetter than most, needs a moment's care to unfold, clings closely once placed and cools the face for the twenty minutes it is on; skin comes out calmer, plumper and faintly dewy with no scent and no sting. The change is obvious on a red or over-treated face and modest on a calm one.

The story behind it

Why it exists

ROUND LAB built its Pine Calming Cica line around pine leaves from Yangyang county on Korea's east coast, and the sheet mask arrived as the line's occasional treatment step alongside the toner and cream, in the Korean tradition of a soothing mask for skin after sun, wind or a flare. It reached the brand's US site in 2022 with an OEKO-TEX-certified biodegradable sheet, and it has been sold singly and by the box since, quietly, beside the brand's better-known Dokdo and birch masks.

About ROUND LAB Established Brand (5–20 years)

ROUND LAB launched in 2017 on regionally sourced Korean botanicals, and its Pine Calming Cica line, built on Yangyang pine leaves, is its sensitive-skin range; this sheet mask has been on the brand's US site since 2022 and is sold singly and in fives and tens. The sheet carries an OEKO-TEX certification for the fabric, and the brand publishes no clinical testing of the essence.

Myth vs. reality

What people get wrong about it

MythA sheet mask with LHA gently exfoliates while it soothes.

RealityCapryloyl salicylic acid sits twenty-fifth on this list at a trace, and a twenty-minute occluded application of that dose does not loosen dead cells; the claim is the Pine Cica line's vocabulary carried onto a mask where it does not apply. What the mask does is cool, calm and hydrate, and it does that well.

MythFive cica ingredients make this a stronger centella mask than one.

RealityThe whole centella extract at sixth is the dose that matters, with clinical data behind it; the four purified triterpenes near the end of the list are present at trace levels the brand declares, on its lotion, at four ten-thousandths of a percent. Counting to five is marketing, and the mask calms because of the one.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is the ROUND LAB Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask good for sensitive skin?

Yes, and it is one of the better choices in the category: no fragrance, no alcohol, no oils, no silicones, a whole-centella dose, purslane and a hyaluronate set on a thin biodegradable sheet. The only ingredient to note is a trace of LHA that does nothing at this dose, and skin in an active eczema flare should still test a corner first.

How long should you leave the ROUND LAB Pine Cica sheet mask on?

Twenty minutes, per the brand, then remove it and pat the essence in; do not leave it until the sheet dries, since a drying sheet pulls water back out of the skin. Chilling the pouch first makes the cooling genuine.

Does the ROUND LAB Pine Calming Cica Sheet Mask exfoliate?

No. The label credits its LHA with removing dead cells and pore waste, but capryloyl salicylic acid sits twenty-fifth at a trace and twenty minutes of contact does not exfoliate; the mask's real work is cooling, calming and hydrating.

What is the difference between the ROUND LAB Pine Cica Sheet Mask and the 1025 Dokdo Water Gel Mask?

The Pine Cica mask is a soothing sheet built on pine water and centella for red, reactive skin; the Dokdo mask is a hydrating gel sheet built on deep-sea water and a humectant set for dehydrated skin. Both are fragrance-free; choose by whether the face is irritated or merely thirsty.

Is the ROUND LAB Pine Cica Sheet Mask worth buying in the ten-pack?

At $36 for ten it comes to $3.60 a sheet against $4 singly, so the box is the better price once you know it suits your skin; at twice a week it lasts five weeks. It is priced in the middle of Korean sheet masks and below most Western ones.

Can the ROUND LAB Pine Cica Sheet Mask be used after a procedure or sunburn?

Chilled, it makes a reasonable calming compress once the skin has closed after a superficial peel or microneedling, and after sun; it is fragrance-free, alcohol-free and oil-free, which is what post-procedure skin needs. Ask the clinician who did the procedure about timing.
