Body Butter

A genuinely lovely, intensely moisturising body butter: dense shea, cocoa and mango whipped with good plant oils, no water, no filler, and a natural citrus scent. It is excellent for dry skin. What it cannot do is prevent stretch marks, which no cream has been shown to do, and at $100 you are paying a lot for butters and branding.

Body Butter Glow

MUTHA's rich original butter with a pretty golden-bronze shimmer stirred in. It moisturises just as well and looks lovely on legs and shoulders for summer and events. But the shimmer is cheap pigment sold at a $15 premium, the clinical claims were measured on the original rather than this version, and the fragrance and pore-clogging fats remain.

MUTHA's famous butter, rebuilt for people who hate waiting for a body cream to sink in. Grape seed and coconut oils lead, structuring agents create a balm that liquefies on contact, and it absorbs in about a minute. It is lighter than the original, travels well and costs less per millilitre, though citrus fragrance and pore-clogging fats still need considering.

It is comfortable for sensitive and pregnant skin and genuinely pleasant to use. Its brightening is modest, its '50x more effective' vitamin C claim does not hold up, and $130 for 30ml is hard to justify.

A lovely-smelling, well-made exfoliating soap whose fine wood-pulp grit leaves skin polished and helps before shaving. It is still a true alkaline soap with fragrance, so dry or sensitive skin needs a moisturiser straight after, and its keratosis pilaris and ingrown-hair results come from small perception panels. Thirty dollars is a lot for a bar of soap.
