Marketing language and ingredient lists do not always point in the same direction. On MENOKIN's Korean product images, the Perfect bubble cleanser is tagged with the phrase for powerful cleansing. Read its ingredients, though, and you find one of the mildest foam cleansers in the brand's range, with glycerin listed second, ahead of every surfactant. That is good news for most skin types, and it is worth understanding why.
MENOKIN, the Korean brand founded by Bokyung Lee, made its name with 30-second bubble masks dispensed as foam from a pump. In 2025, it applied the same idea to a set of cleansers. Perfect is the everyday option, carrying a bestseller flag on Olive Young Global and just over 100 reviews on MENOKIN's own site.
The cleansing system is built from three mild surfactants. Coco-betaine is an amphoteric surfactant frequently used in gentle and baby washes. Disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate is a sulfosuccinate known for producing a creamy foam with relatively low irritation potential. Decyl glucoside is a sugar-derived non-ionic surfactant, among the mildest available. None of these is a sulfate or sulfonate, and together they clean sweat, oil and everyday grime effectively while disturbing the skin's lipids far less than stronger surfactants do.
Glycerin, butylene glycol and propanediol provide a generous humectant load, and polyquaternium-22, a conditioning polymer, leaves a soft after-feel rather than squeakiness. Sodium hyaluronate, caprylic/capric triglyceride and hydrogenated lecithin add a little more comfort. The formula is fragrance-free and contains no essential oils or acids.
At the very end of the list are two peptides: tranexamoyl dipeptide-23, a derivative related to tranexamic acid, and sh-oligopeptide-1, a synthetic version of epidermal growth factor. These are popular in Korean skincare, but in a foam cleanser rinsed off within a minute, they cannot do much. They are best seen as label ingredients.
In use, the cleanser lives up to its gentle formula. The pump delivers a soft, dense foam that spreads easily without needing to be worked into a lather. It rinses quickly and leaves skin clean but comfortable, without the tight feeling many foam cleansers produce. Reviewers consistently mention the cushiony foam and the lack of tightness. It works well as a morning cleanse and as the second step after a balm or oil in the evening.
What it does not do is remove heavy or waterproof makeup on its own, which MENOKIN acknowledges in its instructions. That is normal for a gentle foam; pairing it with a first cleanse solves the problem.
Comparing it with its sibling is instructive. MENOKIN's Pore Clear bubble cleanser uses sodium olefin sulfonate, a much stronger surfactant, and is aimed at oily skin. Perfect, despite its powerful-cleansing label, is the better choice for anyone with dry, sensitive, normal or combination skin, and for anyone using drying treatments such as retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or acids. Oily skin can use it too, especially in winter, though some will prefer the stronger clean of Pore Clear in summer.
There is a reason this matters more than it might seem. Cleansing happens twice a day, every day, so even a small amount of irritation adds up. Many people who struggle with redness, flaking or sensitivity are surprised by how much calmer their skin becomes when they switch from a strong foam to a mild one. For anyone starting a retinoid or acid, a cleanser like Perfect removes one source of stress on the barrier and makes the active easier to tolerate. That makes an unexciting product genuinely useful.
A few habits help get the best from it. Lukewarm water is kinder than hot. Thirty seconds of gentle massage is enough; scrubbing harder does not clean better. Patting dry rather than rubbing, and applying the next step while the skin is still slightly damp, helps humectants and moisturizers work more effectively. For those who exercise, a quick wash with this foam afterwards removes sweat without leaving the skin tight before moisturizer.
It also travels well. The foam pump avoids messy lathering, so it is quick to use in a gym or hotel bathroom, and the fragrance-free formula means it will not clash with other products in a routine.
One small consideration is that very oily skin, particularly in humid climates, may not feel as thoroughly clean with a mild foam. That is a matter of preference rather than effectiveness, since mild surfactants still remove oil adequately.
On price, Olive Young Global lists the 150 ml bottle at $26. With two pumps twice a day, it lasts around two months. That is mid-range for a foam cleanser. The pump format, fragrance-free formula and gentle surfactants make it decent value, though simple gentle cleansers are available for less.
MENOKIN has not published clinical studies, and the brand's founding date is not widely documented. On the strength of its formula alone, though, Perfect is a well-made, gentle, everyday foam that respects the skin barrier. Ignore the powerful-cleansing tag and the peptides, and you are left with exactly what most skin needs from a cleanser: a clean face that does not feel stripped.
