The engineering answer was to encapsulate that fragile enzyme inside liposomes — marketed as DNA Repairsomes — and suspend them in a mineral base, where visible light (not UV) switches the enzyme on to mend cyclobutane lesions in skin already exposed to the sun. A second signature, a watery, near-weightless filter system, solved the more mundane but commercially decisive problem of getting people to actually reapply. The market response has been lopsided in the brand's favor: it ranks as a category leader across Spain, Argentina, and Peru and the top suncare seller in Brazil, and a single facial sunscreen reportedly outsells the company's entire global output everywhere else combined in China. One practical caveat shoppers who travel should internalize: because US sunscreen regulation lags Europe's on approved filters, American versions are reformulated and can differ in UVA coverage and feel from the European originals — meaning the exact bottle you fall for abroad may not be the one stocked at home.
